Issues Linker

Create Markdown links from Xojo Issues tickets

The Xojo issue tracker links don't allow most robots to view their contents and this prevents the forum software from generating a useful preview of the issue.

The Issues Linker app checks the clipboard for an issues ticket link or number and will offer to convert the ticket to a Markdown link for use in a forum post.

Issues Linker sits in the Menubar on macOS and in the tray area on Windows. Click the little ladybug icon to open the Issues Linker menu. The app is free for everyone! I hope to see you post a formatted ticket link on the forum!

How do I use this?

When a Xojo Issues link is copied to the clipboard the "Convert Clipboard Link" menu item is enabled. An example link is below:

https://tracker.xojo.com/xojoinc/xojo/-/issues/71681

Select the "Convert Clipboard Link" menu item. The Issues Linker app will make a quick request to pull the name of the ticket. When it's done, a Markdown formatted link is placed onto the clipboard and a little “click” sound is played.

The clipboard now reads:

[#71681 - True multi-core threads](https://xojo.com/issue/71681)

This Markdown string can be pasted to offer more context when linking an issue on anything that parses Markdown (like a Discourse forum).

#71681 - True multi-core threads

When the clipboard contents is *just* a ticket number, the "Link From Ticket ID" menu item will be enabled. Select this item to convert the Ticket ID into a Markdown link in the same manner.
